🔴 Statement Issued by the International Union for Minority Media and Human Rights
Regarding the Terrorist Bombing Targeting Mar Elias Church – Dweilaa / Damascus
With hearts gripped by pain and consciences ablaze with anger, we received the tragic news of the terrorist bombing that struck Mar Elias Church in the Dweilaa district of eastern Damascus, where a suicide bomber detonated himself among worshippers. In doing so, he violated the sanctity of a house of God, desecrated the holiness of the place and the peace of those praying, turning this sacred space into a scene of bloodshed and devastation.
We at the International Union for Minority Media and Human Rights strongly condemn this cowardly and barbaric act. We view it as yet another episode in the ongoing targeting of the region's indigenous communities chief among them, the Christians who continue to suffer under the world's shameful silence, international hypocrisy, and disturbing complicity in ignoring the plight of religious minorities.
This was not merely a security breach it was a crime against humanity, a brazen insult to global conscience, and a mark of disgrace on all who have funded, justified, or remained silent in the face of extremist ideologies. We hold the Syrian authorities fully responsible for this repeated security failure and their inability to protect civilians and houses of worship from the flames of blind terrorism.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and to the members of the church both inside Syria and in the diaspora. We express our full solidarity with the wounded and all those affected by this horrific tragedy, affirming that silence is no longer an option and indeed, silence is a form of complicity.
We call on the international community, human rights organizations, religious institutions, and all people of conscience to rise to their moral and humanitarian responsibilities, and to urgently act against this wave of extremism and to ensure the protection of religious minorities and sacred places from the scourge of hatred and radical ideology.
Eternal mercy and glory to the martyrs of Mar Elias Church,
And shame and damnation upon all who supported, funded, or remained silent.

بيان صادر عن الاتحاد الدولي لإعلام الأقليات وحقوق الإنسان
حول التفجير الإرهابي الذي استهدف كنيسة مار إلياس – دويلعة / دمشق
بقلوب يعتصرها الألم، وضمائر تثور غضبًا، تلقينا نبأ التفجير الإرهابي الذي استهدف كنيسة مار إلياس في حي دويلعة شرق دمشق، حيث أقدم انتحاري على تفجير نفسه وسط المصلين، منتهكًا حرمة بيت من بيوت الله، ودنّس قدسية المكان وسلام المصلين، ليتحوّل هذا الموضع الروحي إلى مشهد مأساوي من الدم والدمار.
إننا في الاتحاد الدولي لإعلام الأقليات وحقوق الإنسان، نُدين بأشد العبارات هذا الاعتداء الوحشي الجبان، ونعتبره حلقة في مسلسل الاستهداف المستمر للمكوّنات الأصلية في الشرق، وفي مقدمتها المسيحيون الذين يدفعون ثمن صمت العالم وتخاذله، في ظل ازدواجية فاضحة في المعايير، وتغاضٍ دولي مريب عن معاناة الأقليات.
ما حدث ليس مجرد خرق أمني، بل جريمة بحق الإنسانية، وإهانة صارخة للضمير العالمي، وخزي لكل من موّل أو برر أو سكت عن تمدد الفكر التكفيري المتطرف. ونحمّل الجهات الرسمية في سوريا كامل المسؤولية عن التقصير الأمني المتكرر، وعن عجزها في حماية المواطنين ودور العبادة من نيران الإرهاب الأعمى.
نتقدّم بخالص العزاء لأسر الشهداء، ولأبناء الكنيسة في الداخل السوري والمهجر، ونعبّر عن تضامننا الكامل مع كل الجرحى والمفجوعين بهذا المصاب الجلل، مؤكدين أن السكوت لم يعُد خيارًا، والصمت شراكة ضمنية في الجريمة.
وإذ نناشد المجتمع الدولي، ومنظمات حقوق الإنسان، والمؤسسات الدينية والضمائر الحية في العالم، نطالبهم بالتحرك الفوري وتحمل مسؤولياتهم الأخلاقية والإنسانية في مواجهة هذا المد المتطرف، والعمل الجاد لحماية الأقليات وبيوت العبادة من الاستهداف والتدمير.
الخلود والرحمة لشهداء كنيسة مار إلياس،
والعار واللعنة على كل من دعم أو ساند أو صمت.
