شارك المراقب الدولي الأستاذ محمود المنديل، رئيس اتحاد إعلام الأقليات وحقوق الإنسان، والأستاذ علي قيس الشيخ زبار في تعديل الملاحظات الختامية للتقرير الدوري الجامع السادس والعشرين والسابع والعشرين. تضمنت مساهماتهما تعديلات جوهرية على الفقرة الرابعة الخاصة بالإحصاءات، بالإضافة إلى معالجة وتعديل العديد من الفقرات الأخرى لتعزيز دقة التقرير وشموليته.
كما تضمنت مداخلة الأستاذ محمود المنديل مقترحات تتعلق بحق التعليم، وأهمية أخذ آراء المراجع الدينية ومنظمات المجتمع المدني في إعداد التقرير. وقد جرى استلام النسخة المعدّلة رسمياً خلال الاجتماع، في خطوة تعكس التزاماً أكبر برفع مستوى الشفافية وضمان حقوق الأقليات ضمن إطار حقوق الإنسان.
The UNAMI Human Rights Office, in collaboration with Zoroastrian representation in Baghdad, held a workshop in Baghdad on 12 November 2024. Twenty-five (25) participants (5 women and 20 men) attended the event, including members of Iraq’s religious and ethnic component groups, faith leaders, representatives of civil society. The workshop is part of the series of workshops to be conducted aimed at raising public awareness and advocacy to engage with the Government of Iraq in the implementation of the Concluding observations on the combined twenty-sixth and twenty-seventh periodic reports of Iraq. The concluding observations, with its recommendations was issued on 24 August 2024 by the UN Committee on on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD).
The discussions focused on the positive aspects of the report submitted by the Government of Iraq to the Committee, the concerns raised by the Committee and its recommendations. Participants made recommendations on how to further strengthen engagement with the Government to ensure that the Committee’s recommendations are fully implemented with the effective participation of minority groups. A local musician played live songs on the contribution of ethnic and religious groups to Iraq’s civilization and development during the event.
